29th July 2010 CEP Community Engagement Report 2009

In July 2008 the Cuckmere Estuary Partnership commissioned a team of independent consultants to design, develop and implement a community engagement programme.

The Partnership wanted to listen to and understand the wide range of opinions about the future of the Cuckmere, to explore all of the options and to allow different voices to be heard.

During the summer of 2009 the Partnership worked with consultants Hopkins van Mil on a public engagement programme. It included three open public events, held in Alfriston, Seaford and Eastbourne; five themed workshops; on-street surveys; and an online forum and questionnaire. In total, more than 450 people took part in the process.

This report explores what people said during the various engagement activities and makes recommendations to the Partnership on future action. We have also made available copies of the flipcharts which provide a verbatim record of what was said during the events.
